Who are we?
Kings Way Café was started almost 3 years ago by St Michael’s Church (Devon Road), with support from Kingsway Chapel (Kingsway).
The idea behind the Café is to provide a friendly and warm environment in which people can enjoy good food and drink (see menus below), as well as to look for opportunities to host events or initiatives that the local community could attend or participate in.
Trading Hours:
Mon to Fri 9:30am to 1:30pm
Sat 9:30am to 1pm
The Café is run entirely with the help of volunteers from within the local community and surrounding areas. It was in the light of the Café’s success, that the managing committee determined it necessary to employ a full time manager to run the Café, as well as to manage the volunteers and future community projects. Darren Andrews assumed this role at the end of September 2005.
Darren’s vision is to provide friendly service with good quality food at very reasonable prices, and to ensure that awareness of the Café and the projects it underatkes, reaches everyone in and around the Kingsway area.
Since it started, the Kings Way Café has hosted police surgeries with PC Bev Sissons; started a Senior Residents Group meeting (TOGs) on Wednesday afternoons; provides a Friday morning collection point for the Credit Union; hosted the Lord Mayor and his team when they officially opened the Limewood Fields Park; hosted parenting and ‘Drug Proof Your Kids’ classes; hosts Alpha evenings and many other relevant and important community events.
