Koinonia is the Greek word for ‘fellowship’ and has traditionally been the umbrella title of the women’s fellowship groups at St Michael’s, where Christian women have met together to support one another in their spiritual lives.

There are three daytime groups for women currently meeting at St Michael’s:

A Monday group for ladies - mainly from the Newton School congregation - meets at 1.30pm.in a member’s home for fellowship, discussion and occasional Bible study led by Liz Matthews and Patsy Coates.

Two groups that meet on a Thursday – one for mums with pre-school children called PMT (Prayer, Mums, Toddlers) meets in a member’s home at 9.30am. This group is co-ordinated by Lesley Pritchard.

The other group, for ladies of approximately retirement age, which is still known as ‘Koinonia’, meets at 2.30pm in the Kings Way Community Café for Bible study or discussion on a spiritual theme & prayer. This group is led by Christine Davies.

Mothers Prayers’ Groups
‘Mothers Prayers’ was started in England in November 1995. It has spread rapidly throughout the world with contacts in over 70 Countries and has the approval, support and blessing of Christian leaders of all denominations (further info from www.mothersprayers.org).

There are two ‘Mothers Prayers’ groups that meet in St Michael’s members’ homes: one on a Monday evening and one on a Wednesday lunchtime for approximately an hour on alternate weeks. They follow the ‘Mothers Prayers’ meeting format and pray for the children, godchildren and grand children of the group members, as well as the church’s wider ministry among children and young people. For further info about these groups, contact Jane Kite via the church office.
