CHURCH GROUPS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN SCHOOL YEARS:

7-9...

PATHFINDERS & PATHFINDERS @ St MICHAEL'S NEWTON SCHOOL...

Pathfinder groups meet at both St Michaels and St M@NS. We meet on a Sunday morning during service and have fun and games, chat and learn about God and how we can deal with issues that we face as young people together.

10-13...

GODSTUFF...

Godstuff is a group for 15-18 year-old's at St Michaels at Newton School. We meet on a Sunday evening at someone's house for snacks, fellowship, Bible study and discussion. As all of our members are musical we have formed a worship band and lead musical worship about once a month at StM@NS.

FISH...

FISH is a discipleship group for young people aged 15-18 at Devon Road. We meet in a café in town every Thursday for 2 hours with our friends for socialising and informal chat over hot chocolate and snacks! Then the FISH group (church lot) head back to someone's house a meal, fellowship and Bible study. We pray for each other a fair bit too and take it in turns to cook :)

OTHER GROUPS:

D'BIZ...

D'biz is a community youth club that runs every Tuesday after school at Kingsway Cafe. It is aimed at local young people, from all backgrounds, aged 11 to 16 (school years 6 to 11). We run a variety of activities including games consoles, weekly competitions, board games, craft activities and table football. We also provide free toast and juice for members. The aim is for church volunteers to create free community youth provision, build relationships with local young people in a safe and fun environment – and be available if the young people come seeking support or advice.

UHCU...

Upton High Christian Union is a school-based group for young Christians (and their friends) at Upton High. We play games, eat biscuits, chill out and learn about God together. We mainly focus on looking after and praying for each other and plotting ways to save our school. CU is on every Wednesday straight after school for an hour.

CU6...

A group for all Christian 6th formers in Chester. We look at everything from Bible study, prayer and applying our faith to life skills such as cooking and ironing! We aim to help young Christians to prepare for uni' and the big wide world! We meet every Monday in Hoole.

BIG EVENTS:

CHESTERFEST...

During July members of our youth groups are encouraged to attend Chesterfest. It's a week-long summer celebration where many churches in Chester get together and bless their local community. Chesterfest is all about showing God's love in a practical way, with everything from outdoor games to hedge trimming and free BBQ's and all that's in between! All ages can participate. At St Michael's we have several teams of adults and young people who get involved each year.

QUINTA...

Each May we take away any willing young people to this residential. The Quinta weekend is an annual residential weekend run by the Diocese for 11-16's at the Quinta retreat centre in Weston Rhyn. It's a chance for young Christians from all over the Diocese to come together for a God-packed weekend of mad games, worship and Bible teaching.

RESOLUTION...

Resolution is a 5 day holiday run over New Year for Christian teens ages 14 to 18. It is an annual Scripture Union residential headed up by Paul North (CSCW). Rez, as it is affectionately termed, is a chance for Christian young people to meet with God, worship, pray, learn about God and have fun over New Year! On New Years eve there is worship up to midnight then a black tie dinner and disco 'til the early hours! It is an alternative to drunken parties for Christian young people who want to have fun!

There are uniformed groups connected with St Michaels: Brownies, Guides and Beavers.
